Rigging > Periodic > Standing Rigging - Inspect chain plates, fastenings and bolts for leaks, replace sealant and tighten as necessary; Check turnbuckles and locking pins; Check rigging tune, rigging wire condition.

Rigging > Periodic > Running Rigging - Inspect blocks, shackles, cotter pins monthly; Masthead fittings, halyard sheaves, etc., should be inspected, cleaned and lubricated periodically.

Rigging > Periodic > Winches - Winches turn freely, lubricate as per manufacturer's recommendations.

Rigging > Periodic > Steering System - Check/oil sheave bearings monthly; Check nuts, bolts, clevis and cotter pins regularly.

Rigging > Periodic > Jib Furler - Inspect furling system regularly for deformation, wear, cracks or corrosion (see reference); Lower drum assembly must be flushed on a regular basis to prevent corrosion.

Rigging > Periodic > Deck - Clean and wax gel coat surfaces as necessary; Stainless steel fittings such as pulpits and lifeline stanchions should be cleaned and waxed periodically.

Rigging > Periodic > Sails - Check sails frequently for any signs of wear and have any tears or frayed stitches repaired immediately.

Rigging > Periodic > Canvas and Clear Vinyl - Canvas (Sunbrella® fabric) should be cleaned regularly and clear vinyl (Strataglass™) should be cleaned frequently and polished every 2 to 3 months (every 4 to 6 weeks in areas of high fallout) using products specified by manufacturer (see references).

Rigging > Seasonal > Standing Rigging - Seasonal inspections: All chainplates and through bolts tight; Spreader tips and bases, and mast fittings OK; All shroud terminations and swedged fittings OK, check for cracks or corrosion; Gooseneck assembly and boom assembly OK; Mast, boom and spreaders cleaned and waxed; Turnbuckles (standing rigging) should be unscrewed from time to time (~every 3 months) in order that they do not seize; Inspect (every 6 months) all rigging parts, including turnbuckles, and replacement of standing rigging as required

Rigging > Seasonal > Running Rigging - Mast head pins and sheaves turn freely; Halyards and shackles are in good condition.

Rigging > Seasonal > Winches - Disassemble winches and lubricate bearings and pawls.

Rigging > Seasonal > Steering System - Check/oil wire rope and roller chain, inspect pedestal shaft bearings, and inspect system under strong load (hard over and full throttle) annually.

Rigging > Seasonal > Windlass - Grease windlass, check gear box oil level, and spray underdeck components with WD-40 prior to season, six-monthly, and end of season.

Rigging > Seasonal > Deck - Seasonal inspections: Lifelines, pelican hooks, and stanchions all OK, all pins and fittings are secure, cotter rings taped; Turnbuckles, pelican hooks and connector loops OK, screw fittings checked for thread wear; Hatch gaskets and hold down fasteners OK

Rigging > Seasonal > Hull - Bottom, keel and rudder condition of anti-fouling paint OK.

Rigging > Seasonal > Ground Tackle - At least once a year, hose clean ground tackle and locker; Inspect rope, chain, shackles, swivels and anchor; Replace safety ties as needed; Verify bitter end is secured.

Rigging > Other > Windlass Gearbox - Every 3 years the gearbox should be removed, oil drained, cleaned and oil replaced with SAE 90.
