Revision 12 - 6/8/06   Updated broken hyperlinks.
Revision 11 - 11/19/05   Added "Winterizing Procedure".
Revision 10 - 9/27/05   Noted the following exception to Edson's Maintenance Guide: Per discussion with Fred Johnson of Edson Marine, the pedestal shaft bearings cannot easily be taken apart and greased as installed in the Catalina 350 without major surgery. However, both fore and aft bearings are sealed stainless steel bearings that should not require maintenance for at least 10 to 15 years.
Revision 9 - 8/2/05   Added maintenance requirements for PSS Shaft Seal.
Revision 8 - 7/4/05   Revised the format of the maintenance schedule somewhat. No changes were made to the content.
Revision 7 - 6/30/05   Added weight specifications for engine oil, and a link to Westerbeke's FAQ page which provides additional oil recommendations.
Revision 6 - 6/26/05   Added pictures of Edson steering system sheaves, roller chain and bearings.
Revision 5 - 4/30/05   Added Universal part numbers for oil and fuel filters.
Revision 4 - 3/31/05   Added maintenance requirements for Edson steering system: Check/oil sheave bearings monthly; Check nuts, bolts, clevis and cotter pins regularly. Check/oil wire rope and roller chain, grease pedestal shaft bearings, and inspect system under strong load (hard over and full throttle) annually.
Revision 3 - 3/30/05   Added maintenance requirements for canvas and clear vinyl: Canvas (Sunbrella® fabric) should be cleaned regularly and clear vinyl (Strataglass™) should be cleaned frequently and polished every 2 to 3 months (every 4 to 6 weeks in areas of high fallout) using products specified by manufacturer (see references).
Revision 2 - 3/26/05   Added maintenance requirements for the Forespar Marelon through-hull valves: Operate seacock valves at least once a month to keep the seals lubricated. Swab the valves with waterproof grease twice yearly.
Revision 1 - 3/23/05   Revised battery maintenance frequency based on the following suggestion from Jon Schneider, s/v Atlantic Rose C34 #1058: "...The entry about checking the batteries every 50 operating hours should probably be amended to every two weeks or every 50 operating hours, whichever comes first. Batteries that are on a shorepower charger over a couple of weeks could easily get cooked if the charging regulator circuit seizes into a full-charge amount (versus float)".
Revision 0 - 3/19/05   First Publication - Maintenance requirements are copied directly from the manufacturers manuals and organized into categories.
